Published on August 4, 2020, The Black Kids follows Ashley Bennett and her friends celebrating the end of senior year going into summer and college. The novel is set in Los Angeles 1992 when Rodney King was nearly beaten to death by four officers, which is the main driving force of the novel.

I survived Week #7 with Big Dad D. One Piece, but I didn’t finish a Saga this time. In fact, it would’ve been impossible for me to finish this Saga because the Saga isn’t done. I’m currently reading a Saga that is ongoing! I’m excited to catch up with the series and to read the currently ongoing “Wano Country Arc” because it’s being praised as the best story arc of One Piece yet—at least the best one in a while.

I finished Week #6 of reading Big Dad D. One Piece. Starting with Week #6, I’m changing the name slightly from Big Daddy One Piece to Big Dad D. One Piece to keep up with my growing “D” interest. After finishing up the Dressrosa Saga and seeing myself going into the current Four Emperors Saga so close to the beginning of December and end of 2020, I must reflect on my time with One Piece as a whole again.

On December 6, 2020, The Promised Neverland—written by Kaiu Shirai and illustrated by Posuka Demizu—dropped another special one-shot chapter centered around Sister Krone’s background prior to her introduction in the series. Similar to Ray’s special one-shot chapter that dropped on October 6, 2020, this chapter peeled back the layers on Krone’s characterization.

On October 27, 2020, I started and finished Genshin Impact Webtoon’s Chapter 13: Dual Recurrence. This was the latest chapter translated on the Webtoon site, with there being at least three more chapters out there. Apparently, there are a total of 16 chapters in this mini-series. I’m hoping the rest of them get translated soon, but the video game will be more than enough Genshin Impact to keep me going.

On October 27, 2020, I started and finished Genshin Impact Webtoon’s Chapter 12: Unshrouded Resolution Parts 1 and 2. The chapter gave a clear focus on Amber and Collei’s relationship now that the truth is out there. The chapter also focused on Kaeya and Diluc in the second part, revealing they have a plan for the Fauti—the true enemies.

Genshin Impact “Chapter 11: Serpent’s Dance” (Part 1 + Part 2) Webtoon Review. Written by Aaron Ngo.

On October 27, 2020, I started and finished Genshin Impact Webtoon’s Chapter 11: Serpent’s Dance. Picking up where we left off in the last chapter, Kaeya revealed to have lied to Amber about finding devices to eliminate Collei without interference. While the previous chapters confirmed that Collei was responsible for the Black Fire Incident, there was more confirmation regarding the evil spirit possessing Collei—the true monster responsible for the incident.

Genshin Impact “Chapter 10: Fools Trick” (Part 1 + Part 2) Webtoon Review. Written by Aaron Ngo.

On October 27, 2020, I started and finished reading Genshin Impact Webtoon’s Chapter 10: Fools’ Trick Parts 1 and 2. This chapter had a focus on Collei and her traumatic past being triggered during a magic box trick. While I would normally be annoyed with the distraction from the plot, this Webtoon did the right thing with finally giving us more attention to the characters. Amber and Collei’s friendship was also being more established—hopeful airhead with traumatized brood.

Genshin Impact “Chapter 9: Ludi Harpastum” (Part 1 + Part 2) Webtoon Review. Written by Aaron Ngo.

On October 24, 2020, I started and finished Genshin Impact Webtoon’s Chapter 9: Ludi Harpastum Parts 1 and 2. This chapter acted like a side-quest—distracting Amber and Collei from the main quest assigned to them by Jean—for the characters to have fun during the Ludi Harpastum: a yearly carnival to celebrate songs, wine, and flight.

Genshin Impact “Chapter 8: Final Clue” (Part 1 + Part 2) Webtoon Review. Written by Aaron Ngo.

On October 21, 2020, I started and finished Genshin Impact Webtoon’s Chapter 8: Final Clue Parts 1 and 2. The story was beginning to feel messy and convoluted again, but at least we learned why Diluc quit the Ordo Favonius—the famous knight order. This was a good payoff and nice context if you’re a Diluc simp like myself.
